BODINE ELECTRIC COMPANY OFFERS CUSTOM ENGINEERING
SERVICES
CHICAGO, IL
(April, 2007) – Bodine Electric Company, a leading manufacturer of fractional
horsepower (FHP), AC induction, permanent magnet DC, and brushless DC motors,
gearmotors and controls provides engineer-to-engineer customized motion control
solutions for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).
All standard
Bodine products are available as 3D models, which can be downloaded directly
from the company’s web site, www.bodine-electric.com. While OEM engineers can
often simply drop these models into their designs, up to fifty percent of the
products sold by Bodine require some modification. 3D modeling software can help OEM designers to reduce their design
cycles and the time required for the Bodine to prepare prototypes. It can also
dramatically speed up tooling for custom parts, as the data can be downloaded
directly into Bodine’s CAD/CAM systems and CNC machinery. Many of the
components used in Bodine’s over 1000 standard products can be modified. For
example, Bodine offers custom gearing and gear ratios, special drive shafts,
custom windings, and a wide range of special mounting arrangements.
Bodine engineers
can also design custom products directly from OEM-provided 3D drawings. This
allows them to not only design drop-in customized products, but to put their
extensive application experience to work, as well.
“We may have
some ideas for a solution that OEM engineers may not have thought of,” says Tim
Oliver, Bodine’s Engineering Manager for AC and DC products and applications.
“We say, ‘don’t tell me what you think you need. Tell me what you’re trying to
do’, and we’ll help you find the best way to do it.”
Founded in 1905,
and still family owned, Bodine Electric Company offers the widest selection of
fractional horsepower electric motors, gearmotors and motion controls in the
industry. Bodine products are found in many demanding industrial and commercial
applications such as medical devices, labeling and packaging equipment,
conveyors, printing presses photocopier, scientific lab devices and factory
automation. Bodine is headquartered in Chicago, with additional manufacturing
in Peosta, Iowa, U.S.A.
